MORNING POST: עֹז (oz), strength
Oz: Strength. The Bible almost never tells you to be strong. It tells you whose strength you get to borrow.
Yesterday we leaned our full weight on God and trusted. This morning, the word for what holds when you have none of your own left.

🌟 Hebrew Focus
עֹז (oz), strength, might, power
“The LORD is my strength (uzzi) and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped” (Psalm 28:7).
Look at how the verse is built. My strength, and then, my heart trusts. Yesterday’s word, batach, is sitting right inside today’s. You lean your weight on him (batach), and what you find there is oz, a strength that was never yours to manufacture.
That is the pattern almost everywhere oz appears. “The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation” (Exodus 15:2, sung at the Red Sea). Not “I found my strength.” He is my strength. The depleted person in Scripture does not dig deeper. They borrow.
And there is a promise attached: “The LORD gives strength (oz) to his people” (Psalm 29:11). Strength here is not a trait you own. It is a gift he hands out, most often to the people who have run clean out of their own.

📖 The Pattern
Psalm 28:7. The LORD is my strength… my heart trusts. Strength and trust in one breath. The oz shows up exactly where you stop supplying your own.
Exodus 15:2 / Psalm 118:14. “The LORD is my strength and my song.” Freed slaves at the sea do not sing about their own courage. They sing that God himself was their strength. Strength becomes a song, not a boast.
2 Corinthians 12:9. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” The New Testament turns the whole thing over: your empty tank is not the end of God’s strength. It is where it shows up best. When you are weak, then you are strong.

Say it. Ohz. Strength.
Stop trying to feel strong this morning. That is not the assignment. Name where you are weak, and hand that exact place to him.
Pray Psalm 28:7 as it is built: first “my heart trusts in you,” then “you are my strength.” Trust first. Strength follows.

LORD, I have been trying to be strong and I am nearly out. This morning I am done pretending the tank is full. You are my oz. Not the strength I summon, the strength I borrow. My heart trusts in you, so be my strength today, especially in the weak place I would rather hide. Your power is made perfect there. Amen.
